We look forward to your visit to our glider operation at Somerset Airport. If nothing else, come on out and enjoy watching the activity, and bring the kids, they love to watch the planes.
We Do Glider Flights
You and a certified pilot will be towed aloft in a glider. Your pilot will release from the towline. Remaining near the airport, the pilot will allow you to take the controls for a time if you wish, or just relax and go along for the ride. Continuing lessons are available for those who wish to pursue the sport of soaring.
We fly Saturdays and Sundays, from 11:00AM through evening, and Wednesday evenings starting at 6:00PM, weather permitting. We operate on a first come first served basis. Waiting times vary widely based on the weather. The shortest waits are in the morning from 10:30AM to about noon. To confirm if we are flying please call our voice mailbox (908-722-8673) after 10:00AM. If we are not flying the message should (operative word "should") say so. If you are traveling a distance, or the message does not sound correct based on conditions please call Somerset Airport at 908-722-2444 to double check that the message is correct.
Feel free to just stop by at the field to just watch the activity. If you like what you see, we will accommodate you in the next available slot. Please realize that the wait varies depending on the day.
